Bailey Emma

Brummiebell

master brummie
Emma was born in 1826 in Birmingham I belive and first married Samuel Short and had two children, Clara and Harry but Samuel died when they were young and she went on to marry a drapper called Francis English and have another son, John. She is listed on the 1851 with Samuel and from then onwards but I can't find her any further back and would love to find her parents. Any other Emmas that I have found go on to marry other spouses. Clara her daughter had a daughter Emma and kept the name Bailey and was not married I belive. Her son Harry was my Great Grandfather and it has taken a minor miricle to find him as he was a bit of a mystery figure having not been married to my Great Grandmother. I have found Emma's Marrage records I belive in 1845 would a copy of her marrage cert show her parents names? as I can't identify her birth records as there as so many Emma Baileys. Clara is a common family name if that helps any and the family seem to like repeating Christain names. Samuel was a sadler on the 1841 so there may be links there and he may well have been in service in a house in Birmingham previous to meeting Emma but not possitive. Have come to a standstill in tracing his ancestors also. I have her on the 1851 onwards but would love to find her further back or to find out about the English family that she married into, belive he was much older and had been married before also and was quite wealthy I belive. It is a mystery why neither of her children married and I wonder if religion plays any part, Harry was with Sarah for 28 years but they never married even though they were not married to anyone else that I can find, could the family have been Jewish perhaps? Just a guess.Any info on Emma would be lovely though. Many Thanks Maria

Re: Emma Bailey

Yes a marriage cert would have her father's name on it

This could be her family in 1841
