hi all..thought you may like to see this...it was taken when aston villa...west brom..and birmingham ciy all reached the semi finals of the fa cup in 1957....aston villa won the cup that year...

what i would like to know is if as the caption reads this pic was taken at villa park does anyone know what the building behind the players would have been it looks to me as though it was not part of the ground....obviously the ground is much changed now but i was just curious....

It says in the text its at the "Villa Ground", looks to me its in front of the old Trinity Rd stand, as a "Blues" fan i await the "Villa" fans input. Len.

hi mrs t..hope you are well..yes that possible..much more like it...i know the caption say at the villa ground but captions can be wrong...

cheers...

That photo is a real treasure. Amazing really, the Blues players like their fans are by far the best looking...somethings never change ...

Wow, there are some familiar faces and names there! Those were the days, eh?

The Villa trained in 1957 at a sports field on Trinity Road, on the Birchfield Road side of Witton Road. I wonder if the photo was taken there? I don't know if there was a pavillion on that field, unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd go along with Lencops and say that it was part of the Trinity Road Stand, as was.

After they won the Cup in 1957 my pals and I got nearly all their autographs as the players walked - yes, walked, and in full kit! - from Villa Park to the Trinity Road field. Wish I had those autographs now...

Big Gee,I think you are right, it is probably The Hercules Cycle sports field in Trinity Road, where i think they trained in those days.

Hi Mossg,

I never knew it was the Hercules Cycle sports field! And I lived just round the corner in those days.

Hi Gig Gee,
Please dont take my reply as gospel as i seem to be getting a few things wrong lately.

My opinion is the photo was taken with players sitting in the upper tier underneath the Villa name. Len. Thank you Ian O`Brien.

that picture of the 3 teams was taken at villa park the biulding was on right hand side of the drive as you walk down not sure it may have been for bowling green but it was at villa park

thanks everyone...the caption does say it was taken at villa park but it was a while ago and it was the building behind that interested me...bet its not there now then...

cheers
