95 Aston Road North, Birmingham, corner of Burlington Street. Phot taken in 1923. Closed in 1936.This photo was on another site as Aston Woolworths no 137. It looks from the fascia that it is an early photo, certainly pre WW2. There seems to be some queries as to where in Aston this one was.

mike i will take a look but im pretty sure burlington st did not come out at aston road north95 Aston Street north on maps is in a line of shops. So is it just the bit about burlington st wrong, or is it all wrong
I was about to query the address as Aston Road North was part of Aston Cross (where there was a Woolworths by the ATV studios) and Aston Road North was a distance away from Burlington Street (which was by the Hippodrome and the Bartons Arms).95 Aston Street north on maps is in a line of shops. So is it just the bit about burlington st wrong, or is it all wrong
That building became the Elbow Room club I think? The building between Woolies and the Hippodrome was a wartime British Restaurant
yes thats correct sparksThat building became the Elbow Room club I think?
quite right viv...woolies on aston road north which was 2 up from the astoria cinema...we think mikes photo on post 1 and my photos on posts 8 and 13 are of the same shop with just alterations to the top part...I'm getting confused. Are we talking about Aston Road North or High Street Aston ? I always thought the Woolworths next to the Elbow Room was on High Street Aston. But aren't we looking for Woolworths on Aston Road North ? Or am I barking up the wrong tree ?
