The Aston Commercial/Holte Grammar Website is updated with new resources from former pupils fairly regularly. The most recent addition is pages from the school magazine; The AXE from 1951, which refers to the school summer camp in Broom. Sylvia Sayers as an A.C.S. former pupil refers to this camp in her memoirs on this site.

Confession, DD: My daughter translated the phrase I wanted into French. I ain't that clever. :(

I hope it says what it's supposed to and not something really naughty. :?
 
  Don't know what your daighter translated into French - you did not say - However  Oisin n'cest pa  is nothing naighty it simply means "is it not"   Beryl M

This is my 1st time on here.I was surprised to see it.What do you know,Old Aston Commercial.I had Mr Poole for English Classes.He had me write about a school day trip.Didn't he know I was much better at fiction? He was a great teacher.

My grandfather went to Aston Commercial School in the 1930's and I found a 1/6d panorama photograph in a cardboard tube. So here is a scanned version for anyone who might be interested.

hello Beryl, I well remember the brown uniform, but also remember with hatred the horrible brown cap we had to wear. It was the only school I know, where girls had to wear a cap!
