Why can't I view those pics of Ashted Row? Help!

My GG grandfather was a butcher there (number 12 and 13) on the census 1901.

Everything is working from this end, chekka, maybe your security settings are too high.

Chekka If you mean the photos from post 8 that postie put on in 2006, they have been deleted, I think.

Hi Postie,

Understand that you had a few pictures of Ashted Row a while back, being new to the forum I would have missed them and apparently they have now been deleted. If they are still available I would love to see them as I lived there from 1945-50 during the last part of my school years.
As they were posted a few years ago I will understand if they are no longer available.
PS. Notice we live in the same village,no pressure.

Cheers

Hello Mike-g,

Many thanks for that quick response thats very helpful and I will act on it.

Probably no help in your research but I knew of a family called Guest who used to live in Henage St. Nechells, around 1950 and understand that Joan the daughter now lives in Burntwood.

Thanks again

I think these are more or less the photos that were posted by Postie. If you should be able to put locations to them yourself. If you have any difficulty let me know. I think there are only two I am not a hundred percent on.

Hello Phil,
I was delighted to see the great photo's you posted, that was a kind gesture and much appreciated.I can place most of them, obviously the Clock Tavern pub as my folks managed it from 1945-50. I would be 7yrs old
when we moved in and then joined Loco jnr/snr school an education to life and survival.Happy days with really dedicated teachers.
Still working my way through all the past postings you and other members have provided, its great reading and a wonderful trip back in time.
Still laughing about your petrol puchase at Moyden's garage think prices have increased a little now!!

Best wishes

Chas.

Hi sue2be

At 145 Ashted Row you mother must have lived very close to an ex member of this forum Kandor, and also the OToole family and also across the road from Dr O Keefe's surgery who s mentioned on this somewhat disjointed thread.

My mother is one of 13 Nancy and Arthur edwards were her parents They moves into this very large house. She was about 8 which was approximately 1946

Sue

I can't go back as far as 1946 but I know the OToole family were there in 1953 because I went to school with Dennis O Tooole who was the same age as myself. They were another large family, compared to some locals my three brothers and three sisters was a small family. Sorry I can't say that I knew anybody in your family but there again I didn't know Kandor or his family either.

Hi,
Remember my grans sweet and tobacconist shop at number 5?

Hi Steve

Would this have been your Grandmothers tobacconists shop in the background of this photo, opposite Woodcock Street?

Yes that’s it, I can remember visiting as a child and also the builders yard next door, although I can’t remember the builders name.
It might have been Powell but I’m not sure.
Only have 2 pictures of the shop, I will attach the other.
Best regards,

Steve

The name of the builders at number 3 Ashted Row was William Cutler Ltd Property Repairs, well it was in the 1950's I assume that this is the time being discussed.
