Hi all , im hoping that some of you good people can help me with this one ,I lost my dad in 2024 and my parents had lived in the same house since 1968 and now its just mom left there . Shes been talking lately about the fact that they never took one photo of the house when they moved in because they had no camera and the house was dilapidated and very overgrown. So I have had the crazy idea that I could trace the old owners family maybe to see if they had any photos of the house from way back in the day , I know the previous owners only lived there for 5 years or so so I could pursue them or the people before them.
Im trying to find family of the previous owners of my parents house which is in Bell Lane Marston Green which is now Tile cross in Birmingham My folks bought the 1920s house in August 1968 and the previous owners name was Arthur Ilsley who was in his 80s at the time and he moved to Stratford upon Avon and he was only in the house about 6 years before selling up to my parents . The reason I’m keen to find out so much about the house is because my parents didnt have a camera at the time and and so they have no photos of the house which was completely ramshackle and an overgrown jungle when they moved in so I’d like to try and trace the family descendants of Arthur Ilsley and ask them if they have any photos from when he was living there . Any help anyone can get me would be amazing thank you . He was something to do with guns as i remember as a child in looking in one of the garden sheds where there were green ammo tins about 2ft long . If anyone could find out the people before Arthur too so its another line to research that would be amazing.
