I have an Ellen Ankcorn who I have found was baptised 10th Oct 1848, Inkberrow parents Thomas and Ellen Ankcorn. I wanted to send for a birth certificate but cannot find her birth anywhere, nor can I find a marriage for Thomas and Ellen!! Can anyone help?

The family appear on the 1851 census, Ellen spelt Helen. Sister Mary Ann and borther George. But no trace of them with that spelling any later.

Thomas was baptised 07/11/1824 Haselor parents George and Elizabeth.

Thankyou both for your help. I didn't look that far back for a birth, I looked up the parish register entry for the baptism and assumed the birth would only be up to a few months earlier. Is this usual?

its not uncommon at all that a child could be a few years old when christened so 1 year is nothing. best thing to do now is send for the certificate if you can to get parents names :)

Thankyou Shera, you've helped me out yet again!! I will send for the birth certificate now and see what info that gives me, ready for the next challenge. Thanks again.
