Alma Street, Six Ways, Aston

Thank you so much for sharing this photograph. It makes me happy seeing where I grew up.


Rosie and George Trevithick our lovely neighbours moved from 127 Alma Street to the second house to the right. It was a back and front with a bathroom!

I remember the petrol station and a shop next to it, that sold suitcases.
Davis’s shop windows on the High Street are in the distance of the photograph.

My nan, grandad, mother and aunts and uncle lived in Alma Street, I can't remember the house number but I think it was either next to the 'Salutation' pub or very close. Nans name was Ethel Asbury, Granddad was James Asbury, mums name was Doris, aunts were Renee, Joyce, Betty, June and Uncle was Ronnie. Did anyone know them?

Hi Brummy-lad, thanks for the welcome and very much appreciate the information on the house number.

It's strange that after the redevelopment of the old Alma St area I eventually ended up living in New Croft, Newtown, which wouldn't have been too far away from where No 28 Alma St was located. Talk about "going back to one's roots" :)
