Allins, Bryans, Suffields shop

This building once stood on the corner of Congreve Street and Ann Street. The shop was probably the only castellated shop in Birmingham centre. Over time it went through different guises including:

Allins Cabinet of Curiosities, Cheap Clothes and Shoes Warehouse

Bryan's Pastry Shop

Suffields

This building and others were purchased in 1853 for the building of the Council House, which started in 1874.

Allin must have been very patriotic. Later the clock tower seems to have been removed.
