Alfred H. Jones

I am looking for anything I can find about Alfred H. Jones. He was shown as a jeweller in 1901. Does anyone have suggestions about which trade directories I might find him in? Two other brothers were also silversmiths of jewellers in the Jewellery Qtr.

Thank you for any suggestions!

There is no Alfred Jones listed as a jeweller in the 1900 or 1904 Kellys. There were, however a number of jewellery firms named jones9almost the same with one addition but several different addresses) :

Jones R. H. & Son, goldsmiths, 114 Vyse st

Jones Richard Henry, goldsmith, see Jones R. H. & Son
Jones Reuben, goldinanfactr. seal & key, 5 Warstone par. east
Jones Thos.Chas. gilder &c.Hartington buildings,Branston st
Jones Thomas Walter, patentee & sole manufacturer of
" The Castle link," also studs, sleeve links & solitaires in
gold, silver, gilt, pearl, ivory & gold plate, 48 &50 Hylton st

1904

It is possible that he worked for another firm or for someone called Jones (hopefully) in the family. If any of these are of interest and you would like me to look in later directories for them (or for alfred in later directories), then let me know
Mike

I have gone back to 1901 Census. Alfred H. was living at home at 246 Mary Vale Rd. Occupation is jeweller "on own account"

Is it possible to have a look for him at that time?

And thank you for the time you have spent already!

In the 1899 - 1904 Kellys. 246 Mary Vale road was occupied by Jeremiah Jones. In 1896 the road is not listed, and no jeremiah jones is listed either privately or commercially. So in 1901 the house must have been only about 2-3 years old. By the 1908 edition it is a Mrs Cooke, and Jeremiah is not listed in the directory at all..
