I received the marriage certificate through the post this morning for Thomas Acton and Elizabeth Gleed date 29th October 1871, solemnized at St Silas Church Lozells. The age show for Thomas is 24 and Elizabeth 22.
That would make the DOB for Thomas as 1847ish??? Strange....
Elizabeth died between the census of 1871 and 1881 (age of children would assume around 1878/9).

This would match the age on the marriage cert

What was the fathers name given on the marriage cert, if you sent for the birth cert you can ask them to send it only if the names matched

Keith ,it is likely that your Thomas was born in 1847,people tended to give different ages on different censii or the people who were in the house and gave the information to the enumerator were unsure of the age.
Usually the certificates are more accurate.
The Thomas Acton who was born in 1847 had the parents William and Jane
so if your marriage certificate has Thomas father as William these entries may interest.Also his occupation is slightly out of the ordinary,what is the occupation of your Thomas on his marriage certificate.
