Thanks for that. I googled it and found an article on the Acocks Green History Society website. That would have been Alder's Garage

I am doing some research on the cinemas in Acocks Green and wonder if you are able to help.I am aware that the Picture Playhouse opened 1913 and closed in1929 but am unable to find any exact dates. Also I am aware of the last film played but am not aware of the opening film title. Any details you can give on these points or indeed any other information on the AG cinemas would be appreciated.Great photo went there many times
Hi. Does anyone recall the park keepers at Acocks Green Park, not sure of the name, but they were Lizzy be and Wally and had to a son Ted around 1949?Trying to place this. The house on the left looks like a pre war council house.
I trust she recovered. Some views instantly trigger off memories, its 1st March 1978. My wife had been involved in a RTA in Knowle, after initial treatment at Solihull hospital it was decided to transfer her to Birmingham. I was a passenger in a police car which was in a convoy with an ambulance and five police motor bikes. We swept round this corner on the wrong side at a great rate of knots. I think the bike riders were enjoying themselves, they certainly were not hanging around!
Yes thanks, a couple of weeks in the Burns unit at Accident Hospital. Still going strong today!I trust she recovered.
Five years ago and not totally sure. But is it Fox Hollies Rd just beyond Mayfield Rd and Westfield Rd looking North towards Warwick Rd.Trying to place this. The house on the left looks like a pre war council house.
Or a boot!Yes. The 'scruffies' could be quite 'Brutal' in those types of situation. Woe betide any motorist that was slow in moving over as they would risk getting a gloved hand distorting the roof of their vehicle.
Photo here of Wrensons (earlier than 1965)My wife and I got married on 27th December 1965 and did our first grocery shop at Wrenson's, Acocks Green on 28th December. It was the first shop on the left in the village just after Dudley Park Road The manager was Mr Hatton. Some things you never forget.
We're still shopping but at ASDA, Minworth now.
Thanks for the photo RobT. Happy memories of our time in Acocks Green.Photo here of Wrensons (earlier than 1965)
