Watching the VJ commemoration service yesterday raised a query in my mind. I lived at No.42 Abbey Road Erdington
during the war. At No 46 there was a family whose son was in the navy. He was captured and spent a long time in the Japanese
camps. Amazingly his mother used to receive letters from him and shared some of the things with my Mom. After a while he started
asking her to save the stamps for his stamp album. As he never saved stamps she thought it strange and started steaming them off
only to find he was also writing all sorts of information on the stamps. Some of it was very gory and upsetting
For the life of me I cannot remember his name or that of the family, even the surname. Is there anywhere I can trace their names
