WOULD ANYONE ON THIS SITE KNOW IF THERE IS OR WAS AN A.TO Z STREET MAP BOOK OF BIRMINGHAM PUBLISHED FROM THE EARLY 1950s ERA. IF SO WHERE COULD I OBTAIN ONE. MANY THANKS c

Not an A-Z, but I've got a copy of Bartholomew's 'Atlas and Guide' to Birmingham, 1954. I believe these were issued to Birmingham police, but would have been on sale to the public. You could check Hay-on-Wye's website for list of bookshops, as I think there is or was a specialist shop there dealing in maps and guides.

I knew I had an old A to Z somewhere and a rummage has retrieved it. It is a sheet map of Solihull and neighbouring Birmingham. Surprisingly it hasn't got a date but the price is both £sd and decimal so must be 1970's.

Hello, I've got an A1 street atlas (published by Geographia) it covers Birmingham and the Black Country with a separate section for Coventry. It is undated but I must have bought it in the early 1960s for 6/-. Its title is Birmingham and the West Midlands.

I think I have this book too. I was wondering when it was published and guess it dates from the very early 60’s
The interesting point for me was I was trying to locate Bell St in Birmingham which was by the old Market Hall at the end of Station St but it’s not listed due to the early creation of Smallbrook Ringway?

we managed ok before sat navs:grinning:
The A-Z Street Atlas was first created in 1936 by Phyllis Pearsall, who took on the responsibility of creating the first edition
