A message to all from the Admin Team

You may have recently noticed some things are changing in the layout of our site. The Forum has grown considerably over the years and it’s now time to introduce a more appropriate layout to meet the interests of our membership. Admin has in recent years invested much time in tidying up and adjusting its structure but feel it’s now time to go one step further to improve our layout.

With this in mind you will, in the coming weeks, see subjects arranged slightly differently. This will mostly be evident in the order in which sections and their subsections appear. Some headings have been improved and new ones added. In general terms, the General Section remains in place, all Birmingham history sections will follow on from this, and Genealogy & Family History information and requests will be placed further down.

We’re keen to make sure information is as accessible to you as possible and believe we can address this with the new, refreshed layout and its more logical listing of topics. Also please be assured we’ve carefully preserved contributors’ information. .

Update on progress

Work on the layout has started today. As I’m sure you will appreciate, this will be a long and involved process requiring much time and effort. You will already see some changes appearing in, for example, some section titles. But please be aware some will not be in their final positions for a little while and their contents will also change in time. So we kindly ask that you bear with us please while this work is progressing over the coming weeks.
