75th Anniversary of the D Day landings

25 million Russians died defeating the Nazi's and it would be unforgivable if the West snubs Russia when we mark V E day in 2020.Normandy remembered our soldiers that gave their lives.Remember nobody gave more than the Russians. They helped so much

That equals half the population of England at the time

Invading Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland in the process. My enemy's enemy isn't necessarily my friend.

Spar gone, didn't say they were our friend. But they did so much to help our cause.Without them Ithink we would have been overtaken.Have you heard about Aldenay in the Channel Islands

A question for WW2 buffs. When there are a thousand planes in the sky loaded with paras`. When the paras` jump how do they not get tangled up with all those other planes? Must be amazing choreography !

See American Airborne Landings. The Rebecca/Eureka radio system was also used by photo reconnaissance aircraft of the Second Tactical Air Force, allowing it to navigate at night and photograph German troop movements.

There are a lot of things relating to D-Day that haven't received much publicity over the years, the troop landings dominating the story. The RAF operated 'air traffic control' from special ships for instance. The amount of background work was amazing. (Nothing much has changed now. Press and politicians focus on the 'front line' and mock 'the pen pusher' but if it wasn't for the 'underwater iceberg' the 'front line' would never succeed).
