An interesting (and smelly) programme. Some scenes of the Black Country Museum. There are now two episodes on iPlayer. Viv.
 
Watched both but found the Black Country one more interesting as kept recognising buildings we had visited!

Absolutely true Carolina. She certainly strands by her beliefs. I thought both episodes were interesting, but expected the coaching inn to be an easier place to work than some other jobs. But how wrong, the lives of an inn's workers were dictated to by the arrival of coaches at any hour of the day or night. Hard graft. Viv.
 
I'm enjoying the series but I'm not sure about the finances! The "Knocker-upper" was 2d per person, was that per day? One of the ladies only earned about 2d that day. The coffee and chunk of bread seemed expensive too. I know money and equivalent value is a thorny subject.
Such a lot of "muck" in the road, it must have been awful in some places.
I spent most of the first one location-spotting, saying "We went there!"
