CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE NAMES OF 2 OLD PUBS IN THE 60'S IN DERITEND. THEY WERE IN HIGH STREET CLOSE TO THE OLD DOLLS CLUB SAME SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FIRST PUB WAS AT THE START OF THE CAMPHILL FLYOVER GOING OUT OF TOWN ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AND THE SECOND ONE WAS A FEW DOORS UP. GRATEFUL IF ANYONE CAN HELP THANKS VICKI x

Hi Dandydon,

I think the nearest one was the Lamp. I'm not sure if there were
any more pubs between, but the next one i remember was the Old
Crown, and then the Rainbow.

Kind regards

Dave

Hi Dandydon

It really depends on which era you mean, but I think the most likely ones you mean are The White Lion and The Lamp tavern. They were both overshadowed so to speak by the flyover.

hi dave
there was a pub afew doors away from the dolls club but for love nor money i just cannot think of its name
the kerryman ;pub then the rainbow pub ; then the crown then this pub i just cannot think of then the dolls club and just under the bridge there is a old pub that as been there for years just yards under the bridge from the dolls club ; but as i said i cannot think of the pubs name
even thou its still there they are the closest on the other side it would have been the spotted dog then the fountain across from there
after the dolls folded it became the daddy long legs club; best wishes astonian

hi dave ;
yes thats the one i am like a dog with a bone if i have some think to challenge i will stick wih it ;
i used to run a couple of pubs up the rd from there by the oldbulll ring many years ago ; and i hope you do not mind me boasting
but a couple of the well known gathers up there today and down at the irish centre when weused to meet up used to tell me i kept the best giuness
in digbeth as i was a brummie ; and at one stage many years ago at one stage a couple ofthe pubs was going to be attacked
by a certain gang and it was not political but by the crimminals world we all got together andformed our own mob ;
for defence with along with our door men ; but they must have given it second thought they never showed up ; but we was well prepared
digbeth was a very crimminal world after dark ;its was certainly a different world at night the ordinary people whom would come to the city for shopping by day would never ever dreament about the digbeth area in thinking what went on ; take care dave astonian

HI RAY
How are you keeping mate; fine i hope and that you are keeping warm; ?.
yes you are correct it s was the one that sliped my mind thanks completely ;when i mentioned the rainbow; do you remember
a lady got disapeared there afew years back and they found her dead ; i beleive they found some one for it
and now they have got the other person back from IRELAND whom bumped off the other lady from paddys pub the dubliner
i have heard no moresince they brought hm back and no mention as to where her body is;where he dumped her
i beleive its up around money lane ; bromscrove ;or at around that quarter at least ; still i surpose they are geting the paper work together
before getting him to show where the body is laying it must be really composed by now ;
any way best wishes and tanks for reminding me ;; best wishes astonian ; alan

A couple more photos of The Lamp & The Lion showing their relationship to each other and the flyover, sorry I can't manage one of the Dolls Club.
