Gone but not forgotten R.I.P.
Here are two pubs I don't know anything about. I don't think I have even seen a picture of them. They are both on the Winson Green Rd and the first one is The Old Smithy and the other is The Acorn.
Would anyone know what 'A Gibbs Mew House' is, that is on the Smithy?

So they were a brewery from Salisbury then. They had a long way to deliver then unless they had a brewery locally, which I would assume. But I don't know of any more Gibbs Mew pubs.

Enterprise Inns purchased Gibbs and Mews 310 pubs and brewery in 1998. There are plenty of results on Google but I must say I have never heard of them . Something to waste an hour or two tracking down:)

hi guys
yes i have heard of them i actualy met two of the guys
whom was the owners from down south
whom started the busines many years ago
they started to buy up run down pubs and stick managers
in them by the midle of the eighty.s they decided to stop doing that and then they started to sell them to people to invest
in them and they was,nt going to put managers in
they offered me a pub in walsall but they had only half finish the redevelopment
and i wasnt prepaired to wait so i went to
mitchells and butlerscape hill
yes they did have the smiths arms at one time
when it was called smiths arms and later years
it got renamed old smithy and my old dutchess .s
uncle owned it then also at later stage they owned
the three A,s
but since all those years ago i beleive they have
either changed there name all sold out
to enterprize

many thanks for putting those pics
of the smiths arms and the acorn pubs

on redoing it especialy the out side
i wonder wether its still thriving as it used to be
from the old days ,
i wonder what of our old friends on the forum
think of it , i say that because i know there is people
on this forum that used to frequent the pub whom i know
personaly and knew them years ago from that quarter
but i will not embaress them or name them
and my old friends from the pass know who they are
they was the good old days
i have got to admitt my very last visit at the acorns
