A & B Coys fired on range, did rapid loading, Section fire control, judging Distance also platoon Drill, Rifle & LG & Rifle grenades, C & D Coys inspection by CO. Coy Drill attack practice by platoons, Patrol work & LG instruction. All Coys Lecture 2:0 to 2:30pm on Div Trench Standing Orders.

Owing to rain Coys carried on training in billets. 2 Platoons worked on Bullet & Bayonet Course.

A & B Coys fired on range at D2b and carried out practice from a forward line, in pursuit of withdrawing enemy. C & D Coys fired their LGs on range at N.7.b.2.3. Rifle Sections carrying out Rifle Grenade & Bombing, also patrol work. Also practiced the attack & rounding up of tactical points, such as enemy hold on our present front.

Bn attacked & advanced to LA BASSEE RD. Zero at 5:30am. Final objective reached at 6:40am, heavy shelling for about 1 hour. The Bn crossed the LA BASSEE RD by strong fighting patrols & occupied CURZON POST X PONT LOGY.

Battn received orders to push on to the ‘B’ line, which was occupied by Fighting Patrols at 11:0am. At 12 noon orders were received to make good the old British Front Line. A & B [Support Coys] passed through C & D & occupied the OBFL at 4pm. The Battn was relieved by 3rd Worcs R & withdrew to Support. Relief complete 3:50am.

The CO inspected A & B Coys. The Battn bathed at LOISNE CHATEAU.

A & D Coys fired Lewis Guns on range at F8.c.6.4. Rifle sections, Patrol Work & Rifle Grenade practice. All Coys carried out a Platoon exercise – attaching a strong point under Platoon Commanders. The CO inspected C & D Coys in the afternoon.

Enemy raided a post of C Coy & succeeded in killing 1, wounding 2 and capturing 2 ORs. 1 Enemy killed.

C & D Coys attacked at 6:30am & made good progress, taking all objectives & 79 prisoners. Enemy counter-attacked – heavy casualties, particularly in Officers & Sgts, compelled C & D Coys to evacuate most of the captured positions.
Bn was relieved the same night by 8/Glosters & proceeded to line of retention in Brigade Support.
