Only six more sleeps to the big day! Happy Christmas to all you lovely people. It's so nice to be able to join in with everyone on this forum, get lots of help and messages and occasionally be able to help others. Thank you and A Happy New Year to everyone.

Thanks for printing that Janice. This has been going on for some time with petitions and objections from people who don't have the full picture. I'm hoping that gravestones, hidden at the moment, will be recovered as this area is full of graves - literally hundreds - and some of the stones have...
Smashing picture of Berwood House, Pedrocut. I haven't seen it before but there are lots of references to Berwood around here.
William Dargue has an interesting page on it:

Hi Janice, I hadn't seen Sutton Road with reference to the High Street before but it was the road to Sutton so I suppose that makes sense. Especially when you look at the by-pass which was named 'New' Sutton Road.
Janice post #412 shows Easy Row much clearer than my map. I think Easy Row was definitely on the High Street not at the rear. There are more buildings behind the Row so I'll see what Saxton has to say on the subject. I'm taking the book back this evening so will have a look before then.
Apologies for the standard of these photos of Easy Row - The photo is taken from Saxton's Bygone Erdington and the map is from Birmingham Library. Easy Row is just at the bottom of the map, disappearing onto the next one. Barnabas Road wasn't there then.
Looks to be the 1950's mw0njm. I believe the donkeys belonged to the Chipmans who had a field at the Chester Road end of Court Lane. I remember them well.
Hi Jenny1702, the photo above brought back lots of memories for me. We used to walk to Erdington Village through the little cut-through to the left of the row of shops. This would take us into Summer Road (Lane). Opposite the shops was another cut-through which was wider and led onto Shortheath...
I can only think that it refers to Hill, as we know it today. It's in the right area but I'm not sure. Names and area boundaries change over time and the PC is over 100 years old.
Thank you all. It doesn't look as though he died in a fire as it would have been reported. His name and dates are really helpful, really fills in the details. I think it was reported due to his long service.
Thanks again,
Penny
Can anyone help me with information about the funeral of this fireman please? I was sent the photo but with no information. He must have died in the line of duty and this is taken in Church Road, just by the lych gate of St Barnabas church. I think he 'milk bar' is opposite but it was Erdington...
It's strange how someone you have never met can become part of your life, like the members of this forum and Chris was one of them. He will be missed for his help, wide knowledge and good advice. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Hi Again Viv,
This photo was taken at the tram terminus outside Broadfields House. I have lots of photos of the area but none of the house even though the wall is sometimes visible. It was also the bus terminus. Most frustrating! The usual view of this event is the other side of the tram.

Hi Viv,
Only 12 years late to this thread! I don't remember the Methodist church but I have a couple of pictures. First one is the church itself and the second is a short of the High Street showing the position of the church.
Another Belated Birthday wish Lyn. I don't get on the forum as much as I'd like to and missed your special day.
Very Good Wishes for the coming year.
Love Graham & Penny xx
I was in the Library last week picking up some history books about Erdington. I was pleased to see that it was busy and it seems to be thriving with lots of children about. Now that Sutton Library has closed this is my nearest one.
