    213 Bristol Road, Edgbaston 1830's to 1880's

Hi, Yes I have been in contact with them, but they say they don't have that information, and point me in the direction of the Birmingham Library. There is a huge catalogue of Calthorpe Estate stuff there, but it is massive and difficult to navigate, and you can't view it online either.

    Bristol Road, Edgbaston, History

I'm looking now for someone who specialises in the Calthorpe estate and can help with when 213 Bristol Road house was built, and who leased it first. It seems to have been 101 Bristol Road until the late 1880's. I have it's history from around 1855 onwards and know it was built in the 1830's...

I have found Horatio Southall in a directory listed at 101 Bristol Road. Thank you for getting his name for me. I'm looking now for someone who specialises in the Calthorpe estate and can help with when the house was built and who leased it first. I know Birmingham library has a lot of info but...

    213 Bristol Road, Edgbaston 1830's to 1880's

This has been so helpful thankyou. I found Mary Blood in the 1871 census for 101 Bristol Rd and the rest but not with the number but it all looks right. Very helpful. Now I'm trying to get details from Calthorpe Estate on when it was built and who leased it first? That will hopefully fill in the...

    213 Bristol Road, Edgbaston 1830's to 1880's

Further to the current research already done on 213. Regarding the name Tennerian Villa, Do you think that there is a connection between Dr E. Robinson being a public vaccinator and the Jennerian Society, which was all about vaccination against Small Pox. Seems like quite a connection. Maybe the...

    213 Bristol Road, Edgbaston 1830's to 1880's

Thankyou for this help. I am floundering though. What directory are you looking at please? It is very confusing as the house is 213 Bristol Rd, then before that possibly 101, and before that Tennerian Villa, of which I can't find anything!

    213 Bristol Road, Edgbaston 1830's to 1880's

I am trying to view a tithe map of the area from 1851. It seems I can only view it online by using The Geneologist website, and subscribing. Does anyone know about this? It may help me with who was living there at that time.

    213 Bristol Road, Edgbaston 1830's to 1880's

Do you think that maybe he was at what is now 213 when it says he was at 101 then? in 1881. That would make sense. I can't find Tennerian Villa on any earlier census. Bit strange.

Wow, thankyou everyone for replying. And for the pictures. Yes I had found that old advert for 213 for Sale in 1961. I do know the place is still there and have some good pictures from Google of it. It's the early stuff I'm really interested in. Could anyone tell me how to get copies of the...

Hi, I am new to this forum so please excuse any mistakes I may make. I am researching the history of 213 Bristol Road, the house my mother spent the early years of her life in. From 1934 to 1952. She is now 90 and has many fond memories of the place. She is very keen to find out about it's...
