    W.H. Price Ltd Tool Hire

Hi Sue, I remember the two chaps because they were father and son but for the life of me I don’t remember their names. The son worked on the front counter, he was tall, about 20ish and had a mop of lovely black hair, shoulder length I would say. His dad I suppose was in his early 50’s. Jen

Sue, I remember a couple of chaps who worked on the shop floor but other than the names I mentioned in earlier posts I can’t recall their names. I started and left in 1972. Jen

    W.H. Price Ltd Tool Hire

Yes happy days Lyn, I used to love getting up and going to work. Don’t know whether Janet Harley, one of the drivers, was still there when you worked there. She had a fantastic sense of humour, she had me in stitches. Seems like yesterday. Jen

    W.H. Price Ltd Tool Hire

Like me Lyn, I started there a few months after my 21st. I remember Peter being tall and wearing a white coat. I used to join the girls upstairs for mid morning coffee. The Company provided the milk and coffee so it was take it in turns to rustle it up. One of us would go round and take orders...

    W.H. Price Ltd Tool Hire

Hi Lyn and Morturn, I had a short spell at W.H. Price early 1972. I started there working with Peter Hardiman in the hire tool section. Bob Withers was like the General Manager, Mr. Lunt was the big boss who sat upstairs in his office and his son Timothy Lunt worked with Bob. I remember the...

    Mike Ingram

I didn’t know of Michael Ingram but reading post 1 made me feel emotional and quite moved. I agree with everything in the post with regards to Birmingham, when I was younger I never felt more at home than when I was in ‘Town’. What a wonderful piece of History Telling. RIP Mike and my thoughts...

History of surnames Morrall and Badger

I lived near to Black Patch Park until I was 11 years old. As kids it was a regular place to play but sorry John I have no knowledge of its history. It is strange though because there was a family called Morrell living close by to us. Mr Morrell was a Prison Officer at Winson Green Prison. It...

History of surnames Morrall and Badger

Hi John, I have only just seen this post. There is public park in Handsworth called Black Patch Park. Not sure if this could be the land that you are asking after. It borders on Winson Green. Jen

    The Custard House Blake Lane

I was living off Green Lane in the late 60’s and went into the Custard House some weekends. I can’t remember the group but at the time I was there the Landlords surname was Studholme, tall chap and ran it with his wife, who was very petite. Hope this rings a bell for you Shirley. Jen

Hi MdeL, I have loved reading this post, it has given me a good laugh (hope you don’t mind) it is really funny. Not so I know back in the day and for your GG Grandfather but he did get a second chance and obviously proved that he was dedicated to the job. Thank you, Jen

    Lane Family

Ah how lovely that you have been able to talk to your mom about her memories, heartwarming. I have been following this post because my nan’s maiden name was Lane and there were a good many of them late 19th early 20th century, they lived in Bordesley Green. As you say fantastic research from...

Amazing photos, so much to look at. Bought back many memories of my bus travels from Great Barr into the City Centre. Fantastic, thank you oldMohawk. There looks to be more traffic and road congestion then! Jen.

    Perry Beeches Secondary School

Hi John, I’m a bit sketchy with a few of the road names around PerryWood Road. If you walk down Booths Farm Road from Walsall Road it would be on the right side, Perry Wood Road that is. I lived to the left of Booths Farm Road. I suppose I always thought of it as the lower part because I walked...
