    Park Street Digbeth

There's all sorts of interesting buildings in that area on those 19th century maps although not sure if I would've fancied the smell of the 'Hide, Skin and Fat' Market on a warm summers day which is showing on the Albert Street 1889 map?!

    Park Street Digbeth

Just catching up with this thread - thanks for the amazing Court images. Not totally sure if its the same but I wondered what that Taboo Cinema building was originally used for (as opposed to the Brown-mac brigade I see going in there nowadays!) Its marked on an 1889 map as part of the Chard...

    Fox and Grapes - Digbeth

How sad this all is. A place full of history and pictures to prove good times and it all ends up consigned to history in a pile of dust. Drove past this place many times and hoped it would be saved. I'm actually a Coventry-kid (sorry folks!) and the same thing has happened to The Rocket Pub...

I'm sure most Brummie's are aware of this but there is actually a small part of the Golden Eagle still visible - I have no idea why but these couple of black 'Marble' panels that were a feature of the Pub build remain on Hill Street to this day -

Passages, Alleyways Gulletts and Snickets of Old Brum

With regard to Shaw's Passage - think its been mentioned on here before but Shaw’s Passage came into being c1888 and took its name from Henry & Frank Shaw’s Nail factory which was actually the south side of the Moor Street line. A mate of mine runs Motor-mech the garage at the west end of the...

    Paternoster Row

Britain from Above has this excellent image from 1933 - I've highlighted Paternoster Row between the Red X's so you can see what was originally there. The building with the blue tag to the right is the Fox and Grapes......... Sad - lost in time....
