The old trader/Red Lion pub,and Sainsburys area.

To the old Dolphin pub area,by Victoria Rd,I used to live up there 20+ years back. However useful Aldi and co are,they're far too ugly to replace the Dolphin.

Now into the start of Acocks,is that the Dolphin chippy I hear you ask?

These take us past the hollow,and a view into Acocks.

The second pic shows the gap where the lovely old flemmings hotel was burnt down. It does say that flats are due to be built shortly.

Went for a walk last saturday.Did hop on a bus to cover part of the trip,but took some pics to share. Started at Warwick rd Olton,went through acocks and Tysley.Bus to Sparkbrook,then via Trinity to the canal,then town,on to Hockley,then bus back. The pics are not great,I'm no...

No garden on mine,it is possible some had gardens of course.Mine backed onto another house.

Not all back to backs were bad.Possibly the style used in parts of Brum were,but stone built ones in Bradford where I lived were great,mine had 3 bedrooms. If you want to see the style then key in 'hollings street bradford' to google maps.

The Barrel

The Barrel,you mentioned it was going to re-open. 'and the barrel will reopen as a pub' Hope I've not confused us all here :biggrin:

Thanks Lyn,there is some good news in this.At least the George building will stay,and can be seen.The Barrel,be nice to see it back.

All that jam making Alf,it'll come to a sticky end. We made some Blackberry and Apple the other day,nice change from the commercial products from the shops.

It still looks smart outside,so perhaps its not been closed long. I have some fond memories of the place 20 years ago,it had a good trade then,plenty of life Sunday afternoon,and afters were a real treat.

Took this last saturday,even the car wash seems deserted.shame,because this was a great little pub in its day.

McDwyers - Sparkhill 79, Warwick Rd, Sparkhill, Birmingham, West Midlands, B11 4RD Remember this from 20+ years ago,but the name at the time slips my mind. It became a Banks pub,unusual in the 1980s,but no doubt good for trade. Given the state of the pubs in the area it's done well to survive.

Great pics,both the current ones,and the older ones.A really good thread happily kept alive. Corona and Mason's pop,the place is a real time vault,and at £650,000 isn't ridiculously priced. Do wonder why it was never sold these last 30 years though,why would the owners sit on it for so long?

Very interesting to note Nick that the pub was part of a terrace,now it's on it's own.
