I believe before the prison was there that area was called Birmingham heath. But Isaac Hawker built his glass house just of the main canal as seen in the pictures.

If you look at this old map Alma Cescent had houses to almost the top but these disappeared before I moved in to 140 dolman street . Once we moved in the top was just bomb peck.and in 1967 I went upstairs in the out door on the corner . The complete roof at the back had been covered with sheets...

It must have been some time ago I got that picture in 2006 it does look weird.

Sorry Mikee. My mistake I think I should have put colmore row because when you look up the street just past the town hall it looks like the itv building. Not sure what that cream building is in thee middle though . That’s why I thought great Charles street but the town hall is clear at the end...

Looking down at st Martins when the building at the top of the hill got bombed.

We lived at 140 dolman street from 1964 until ready for demolition around 1971 . My mom used to know all the folk down that street . I hung around the lad from the outdoor on the corner (130). About 5 doors from 120 .

This was the dunstall hall you are talking . I just found it strange to have 2 dunstall halls in staffordshire. And 2 tunstalls and dunstall show wired.

Dunstall was by tunstall near burton on Trent. The picture are the old house which is now a golf club.

Can’t believe they keep stopping these traditional events. My mom took me there when we lived in nechells Dolman street. We had family who lived in Aston .

I believe the hot spud men sold chestnuts over the Christmas period. November December that’s when I remember. the onion fair was held in the bullring until 1875 then pat collins took it to Aston in 1910 .

The bull tavern was just in chapel street.

when this large plaque was in the underpass between lewis,s and corperation street . I wonder how many of us realised it all related to old square . They are mostly individual plaques from certain houses and the bulls heads plaque was the pub in the old square.
