Have you looked at the actual census yourself Josie, sometimes the words are transcribed wrongly, I can't find Ganley either, could it be Galway? If you can put a scan of the census on here, you can see wht others think it says too. Sue

Did that myself Viv, luckily it was dad telling me things and all I had was a list of names and places and another of events!!!He managed to sort them out for me. Sue

We think that 366 Stockfield Road became derelict and was demolished for safety reasons. Dad thinks he can recall The Causeway, but not the Mission Hall on it, he used to go pastthere on his way from Stechford to the Swan. Sue

Another memory from Aunty Ivy - does anyone remember the grocers shop, Arrowsmiths, on the corner of Highgate Road and Rose Cottages? Mom and Ivy lived in Rose cottages as well as their grandparents and Ivy can recall this shop as selling all sorts of things, she said they went there most days. Sue

Have been to visit my 90 year old Aunty today and we were talking about memories of the war, in 1939/40, she was working at Cadburys and used to get the train from Camp Hill to there, she sys that all along the Moseley Road there were big oil drums, which on the bright moonlit "bomber" nights...

Have to agree with the other posts, Ancestry is better for worldwide records, but even when you put very precise details, you get lots of irrelevant returns that seem to have no bearing on the info you have put in. Have jsut had a two week free trial on FMP and found it much more accurate...

Yardley are reaally helpful too, they sorted out where some of moms family were buried for us with very little info, would be well worth contacting them and given where they lived would be the most likely place. The Mission Hall was in Church Road Yardley, but I don't know if it still stands...

Not sure that yours will be related to my Sarah Harrison, that was her married name, we know she married a John Harrison in 1882 and her name then was Sarah Walsh, but there we hit a stumbling block, as we can't find anything for her on births or census records, despite the sites best efforts...

I agree Carolina, I have had some great info from other people on Ancestry, most recently, relatives of my nans sister, who dad did not know about, as well as the Australian links I was lucky enough to be invited to share. I think it has to be a personal choice, especially if there are issues...
