Hi 91880, is it possible to post an image of the reverse? I have found this (4, Ellesmere Road and I thought initially that it may have been the school but I don't think so now.

Hi Steve, I think this is the building on the corner of Burbury Street and Farm Street (opposite corner to the Lucas factory.

The second floor window has been replaced with a vast amount of newer brickwork, the 1st floor window has had the lintel replaced but there doesn't appear to be any signs that it was similar to the rest of the arched windows on that floor. There was a building on the left as shown on the 1935...

It's still there Steve and mounted on an original part of the brickwork in that area, but certainly not in the position of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's house

Aerial view of Garbett Street 1937 (not good quality), doesn't seem to match the map very well so I assume some houses were lost to bombing or demolition. I think No. 24 is the one arrowed.

The 1871 and 1921 census has the Old Robin Hood at 102 Garbett Street, corner of Summer Hill Road.

There is a William Oakley (motor transport contractor) on the 1939 register for Sedgely born in 1901.

A few discrepancies on the census so checked a few others. Court 11 was between Nos. 47 and 48 so No. 46 as marked. Were you aware that there was an Edmonds family at No. 4 on the 1871 census?
