I noticed on some of the Maps posted by Mikejee in various threads that on the 1810 map around the Cathedaral area both Waterloo St and Bennetts Hill didn't exist but by 1839 both did however on a map of 1500 and something Bennetts hill did exist but literally as a hill and not a road. Now...

Our trip was very historical in content. There are some incredible pictures of old Brum in the Wellington and the complete history of M&B's on the wall and I even noticed that the Loo was Victorian. HISTORY IN THE MAKING:P

In the Royal Navy, soft drinks are known as Goffers and they are perchased from the Goffer Bar. To my knowledge this word has been in use for many years, going back before we had cans of soft drinks. I have often wondered what the origin of this word was. Perhaps there is a conection?

What about "The 39 Steps" the journey to Scotland and the escape on the Forth Rail Bridge. Or the "Bridge on the River Kwai and Return to the River Kwai" and of course that famous kids programme "The Titfield Thunderbolt"

I've Just looked at the pics again (It's been years since I last looked at them) and I also became confused. However I think I've solved the problem. I've looked through my books and it seems that "Forth" although launched as a Mersey Class Cruiser was converted to a Submarine Tender in 1912...

Yes this is the one your relative served on but it is a "Mersey Class Cruiser" not a submarine depot ship.
