I guess that it shows ambition, but it is going to take an awful lot of "full houses" at sports and other events, to recoup all of the money that is being spent on building a new stadium from scratch. It has only been just over 30 years since they last did major work to improve the present one...

I think it was demolished sometime in the mid or late 80s Lyn and was replaced by the dreadful new build Crown & Cushion, that then became The African Village, which itself closed down after a fire, that had occurred shortly after planning permission had been rejected to build flats on it's car...

Such sad news. Chris wrote so well about Streetly and the Chester Road, on which he and his family had lived. I found his memories to be a fascinating read, as someone who has also spent many years living in that area. My thoughts are with his family and friends, including those on this site -...

I would, a little violent at times and a little near the knuckle at times, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, it is quality viewing imo.

Yes Dave. Perry Barr won't be the same without the track, I passed it after yesterday's game last night and there are just piles of rubble now. So easy to destroy for those that have no interest in sport and would rather build yet more flats, where once speedway and greyhounds brought the crowds...

At least they kept the rise to the current inflation rate....not :rolleyes:. It looks to me like they are going through everything with a fine-tooth comb, in an attempt to find some way to get some more money into the government's coffers and they couldn't wait until the budget to announce this...
