    Birmingham market handbook 1980

My dad Michael iommi - has dug out his Birmingham Market handbook from 1980. He worked at this particular market for 22 years and the “old market” for many years before. I hope it may be interest to some of you, maybe you remember my dad? Or you frequently used the market? This is him below on...

so you've managed to crack your family tree then, although you've had stumbling blocks. I guess no one knew we would be looking them up in 100 plus years.

    Iommi family

That's crazy that it, and really interesting at the same time, it seems it was so easy to up and leave, and start again without anyone really knowing anything unless you told them. As a novice really doing this family tree I didn't even think about documents being wrong, changing of surnames and...

Id love to know...I guess if you upped and left back then there would be no way of tracking you down. Its strange as Alexandra im sure never mentioned that her dad wasn't present or anything like that, just that her mom did have lots of men, and that she only had half siblings. Who knows. so...

    Our childhood toys

I was an 80s baby, but only really remember 90s toys, but the ones in particular I loved were, battleships, snakes and ladders, I collected china dolls (which now have a creepy vibe I think), operation, and etch a sketch :) Id do anything to go back to simple toys. But one thing, I always play...

Are you finding it difficult to trace Elizebeth before her children and marriages because of the smith name? also do you suspect she married Foster, while she was still married (but split) so she put widow? or could be the case it is the wrong Luciano and he did in fact pass away. when he had...

    Iommi family

I found these two on my dna matches. Debbie doesn’t seem to have any Italian in her thou which is odd. But Giuseppe has a lot. Could possible be on that tree you found, I’ll try and drop them a message I thought the surname was similar. Also there are only two regions that come up on my DNA...

Is it worth me adding the new marriage and his other kids to the family tree

    Iommi family

Ok yes I have those but for some reason also listed an Elizabeth as a 4th child so I’ll remove that. He had a lot of children and all their families branch off somewhere. Wonder what the peck name is like now, or if it’s still listed as peck. Could go on forever that line.

So I only have 4 children listed so there seems to be a lot more between him and Elizabeth and then he has another 6 with someone else.

Ah yes that's a point. I also notice that lots of people took in lodgers, was that to get help with paying bills?

Firstly when you said all this, I immediately thought that if he abandoned them all, that maybe why Alfred took the foster name when he joined up to the army. So Elizabeth sister married a Verrechia, they had some children and Alexandra was godmother to one? and Luciano went on to have 6 more...

Yea I’d say I’m 90% sure that’s the location. But wanted alittle more solid proof. But tomorrow will be the last attempt to see if there’s any stone that’s sunk, fell ect… and then we will leave it there. Atleast I know the area they’re all located and they’re together atleast.

They don’t know a fat lot and I feel like I’m being a pain at this point. The person who knew everything died a few years ago.

What are your thoughts on this, so within feet of where I am locating Giuseppe & Marias burial location, Ive found a wide concrete area, just under some soil and grass. Which would be strange in the middle of where people are being buried as you often want just soil so its easy to dig up first...
