    Presbytery Aston (Hall ?)

Thank you to all who have replied to my query. I have learnt so much, including: 1) To be more specific about my query 2) Not to jump to conclusions given my limited info about the area (eg Aston Hall Birmingham vs Staffs). The only tangible information I had was her address on the marriage...

    Presbytery Aston (Hall ?)

Thank you. I’m not local so relied on internet searching, but my google search only pulled up a reference to “The Presbytery” from the sales details of Aston Hall listed by Savills (https://assets.savills.com/properties/GBWMRSTES220141/TES220141_TES22003346.PDF), so assumed it had to be here...

    Presbytery Aston (Hall ?)

Appreciate all the responses but you might have provided the key bit of info as, after I posted this query, I continued to dig…. And found that she had an uncle who was a priest who, in 1901 census is shown as living in Aston St Saviours. I guess she could have been living with him? (I found him...

    Presbytery Aston (Hall ?)

Can anyone help with the any information about what The Presbytery at Aston Hall was used for in 1900? A relative has stated that her residence at the time of her wedding in 1900 was "The Presbytery, Aston". It seems it might have been used for respite for priests... but she was a 20-year old...

Sorry, I misunderstood that the 1903 date related to Walter and Ada's marriage. I can see now that Walter is born between Ada Gladys and Violet and as he wasn't on the census I'd completely missed him! Apologies for getting you to repeat.

I have a missing Walter!? Walter does not appear in the 1911 census with his mother and stepfather (Enos & Ada Kate), just Ada Gladys & Violet and a stepsister. In the 1901, Ada Kate is living with her 1st husband Walter Elston and their new born daughter Ada Gladys. No sign a a son. As husband...

    Sturdey family

This is great info and another wonderful map! As Arden Lodge is so far away from the other properties sandwiching the Sturdey's (The Lodge occupants) on the census, I wasn't sure initially. However, looking at the site, it appears that there's only the one entrance to the Britannia Works... and...

Thanks so much for the prompt reply MWS! How do you see the 1921 info? I didn’t think there was a census to reference that year…. And what names do you gave for mother and step father please?

Hi. I have a Walter Aaron Elston in my family tree (1880-1905) - married Ada Bache…. but my research so far seems to indicate he only had 2 daughters. Is this your Walter?

    Sturdey family

Mikejee, I’m new. Hi! I found this post when I was looking for info about my family from the 1881 census. The family above them on the census are at The Mermaid Inn, Lander Street. My family - the Sturdey’s are shown living at “The Lodge at Brown Jenislaw” (tho the writing is very unclear)...
