Thanks Lyn.I thought the derelict site pictures were bad enough, but this takes it to the next level. The aerial view showing the foundry. And it looks like Charles Harbage who used to be next to the boiler house has been totally demolished. When you think of the hive of activity that once took...

Ivor, you'd have expected them to have covered your stoppages, talk about mean.Obviously because of the type of work the place was thick with dust, inside and out. I noticed the extractor fans on Metcast have ductings fitted on the photos.Whenever the furnaces were pouring, all the dust and fumes...

Thanks Ivor for the above updates, that wall seems to lead a charmed life. Roger, that Windmill entrance was never used during my time there,76-83,everything went through the BA side. I remember one Summer lunchtime about ten of us were sitting on the decking along the canal, where the acid...

I viewed some pictures from what was left of B&A on a site called derelict places, under EIP metals. Now used for re-cycling old tyres. Can anyone confirm if this site has since been demolished,as I now live in Torquay.

    Brummie Ghosts

I know the heading is "Brummie ghosts"but would a Brummie in a mid-Wales mill house qualify? Back in '95, we were renovating a cottage and managed to rent the mill house which was just a stones throw away, from the local farmer. Myself and three builders were doing the work and while we were on...

Am I right in thinking the Birmingham Arms has been flattened? Also when did the two properties disappear that were between the main gate and the pub? How anyone lived there with the noise from the BA and the noise/dust from Metcast is beyond me.

    Rover Sd1

Bought my first one, also early eighties. The auto gearbox went four months later. Lets be honest, reliability and build quality were never used in the same sentence regarding the SD1. I currently own an '86 2600 VDP,the attention it gets is amazing and if I had a pound for eveytime I heard "my dad...

    Rover Sd1

The Rover SD1 club has held a weekend at the Chateau Impney to celebrate 40yrs since the launch of the car. Did anyone on here work at Solihull at the time,or perhaps have a relative who did during this period.

The original archway, was that the one you went through to get onto the car park?I never asked what that section did during my time at B&A,be interesting to know. Worked there '76-'83,good times.

    Birmingham Arms pub

I read in an earlier post that someone had mentioned that the BA was full of tyres. This is also mentioned that B and A was used as a tyre dump. Pictures of B and A can be found on a site called derelict places under EIP metals.

    Birmingham Arms pub

Hi Lyn,Barker and Allen is situated in Heath st. south just up from the BA.In actual fact their was two houses sandwiched between the pub and the main gate but I think they were demolished some time ago. The signage may be EIP metals.
