There was extensive coverage of St Peter's, both the school and church. As a past pupil and alter boy, 1950 -57 I'm curious, If that old thread still exists can it be merged with this one.

I stumbled on this one when using google to establish the origin of the term. And up pops this forum. So, it was a common phrase for the bog when I was growing up in Ladywood in the 50s but our degeneration was Larm pom. Has to come from the forces and france is a guess.

Bit late with info on this, but we lived over the road from Wight & Platt. They fronted onto Irving Street and if memory serves there was a personel door onto Speaking Stile Walk. (theres a great name for you)
