    Carrying on down the road and we have this selection of shops and what made Hurst street " different" at its time - totally different from the City Centre and markets a few streets away

    Walking down Hurst Street and this time a more positive outcome and very much an old and new - we have the site of the " Back to Backs " and a look at the Street View can see how this has changed for the better Now run by National Trust ...

    Now apologies for this shot, the road sign says Warwick Road - but as its a long road I am not sure of it relationship to the Dolphin. A selection of shops with older building close but a look down the road have more modern ( relatively) buildings. Again these were taken December 1991

    Now a much wider shot of this site with junction with Park Lane - showing how much was lost on the left to allow this road to be built

    I think we have now moved further up the road and more tradition high street building - Midland Bank ( now called HSBC) public Library and a large pub on the corner, all still there - much to my surprise

    I think we are slowly turning to the right from where we were just standing, a line of old style what they would call these days Independent traders, selection of shop styles and frontages with tradition shop signs

I have prepared quite a few rolls for posting and you will notice roll numbers will jump as we fill gaps - I have also noticed there are a lot of duplicate images, so new images may be a bit thinner...

    so then if we turn around we have this view, the old railway bridge which I believe comes from near the old shed at Aston. Below that is the cast iron urinal- saviour for many I imagine - When you see the previous picture its hard to imagine a rail line ran across the area, all gone of course.

    Thought I had finished this roll but found a couple on the end - this is Thimblemill Lane and Cheston Road, rather dark but you get the location, industrialized area , scrap yards etc

    We now come to Broad Street in 1939 ( so the list says and we know how reliable that is !!) like the street lamps and the cars parked on the side of the road and is that the colonnade on the right? So we are looking up Broad street to where the ICC is now , and the frontage of the Municiple Bank...
