    Pinfold Road Yardley

Could it be 'Swan Inn'? on an old 1890 map there is a New Inn and a Swan Inn on, what is now, the Coventry Rd. Pinfold House is/was in the area of the Yardley rd , by Yardley cemetry going towards Acocks Green. Could Yardley rd have been called Pinfold rd? There is a pinfold farm on this map...

    jako the monkey

I've got my Jacko in my wardrobe upstairs. He's very well loved, a bit thread bare and losing his stuffing but I wouldn't part with him. My aunt bought my 2 cousins & me one each for Christmas from Woollies when we were about 3.

    Tilton Road School

On the 1901 census I have relatives that live in Tilton road. They are living at 87 Tilton road next to the School House, presumably Tilton Rd School. (RG 13/2864 page 17)

    Tilton Road bordesley green

That's the first photo of Tilton Rd I have seen on here. My family used to live in the other part, over Garrison lane. I have some photos of that half but have no idea how to post them on here.

    Naturalisation records

On the 1841 census my ancestor is just listed as 'foreigner'. I have been told he was born in Scotland. He was married in Alcester in 1826 and died c1844. Is there any way I can find out for certain where he was born?

    The Swan Yardley

I didn't go in any of them really, The Swan 2 or 3 times around 1980 so I only remember it from then until about '84.

    The Swan Yardley

I thought Preston's flower shop was after the library as you go towards Yardley Cemetery. It was the Good Companions I was thinking of.

    The Swan Yardley

There was a Swan Pub in 1981. I know it was knocked down a short while after that.

    St Chads Birmingham Lookups

The Holy Family Church on the Coventry Rd may be a possibility. I don't know when it was built tho. We lived in Yardley and used to walk to that church so I think it must have been the closest.

    Where is This 98?

Is it the building that was there before St Dunstan's church? I know St Dunstan's is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Yardley Wood Bus Garage 70th Birthday

They were repainting the sign above the doors, very slowly, yesterday. What a shame it will be covered up again. The lamp posts were all being cleaned along the Yardley Wood Rd from Haunch Lane to Warstock Island too. Was this a coincidence or are they sprucing up the area for the 'big' day?

    Hare & Hounds Kings Heath

It still has live music in the room upstairs. I've been to a few there recently. The word 'basic' comes to mind when I think of it.

St Michaels RC School Floodgate Street

I've been asking her for years for certain photos so don't hold your breath Brian.

    help needed

I just had a look at the electoral role. In 1930 Harold Adolphus Gysel was living in at 41 Whitehall Rd, by 1935 he was there with Elsie. In 1939 Elsie Dorothy Gysel is recorded as living there on her own, Harold was probably away fighting. Doesn't help with relatives today but it may help...

    Workhouse records

My great Grandfather father died there. He was buried at Yardley cemetery. I think this was because his son, who registered his death, lived in that area. If you have the death certificate, check the address of the person who registered it, that may give you an idea where to look.
