    Where is This #207?

My dad always drank Ansell's so I would never have had the chance to study an M&B frontage whilst drinking my Vimto. Anyway...a guess again...Water Orton somewhere.

    Where is This #206?

Yeah, too bad that this can't be done with a few other places. Still hopefully the new tennants found a few cases of brown ale.

    Sutton Park History

The pool there is not very deep. We used to free fly our model aeroplanes on the hill behind the pool. We lost one in a thermal one time and never heard about it again even though it had my friends name and address on it. Just went up and up after the motor run ended and we ran eastward to the...

    Where is This #206?

Oh, just a guess. A lot of these places looked very similar....Highfield Road, Washwood Heath.

    Music like it should be

Gosh, I thought that I was the only one left. Marvelous!!!

    Sutton Park History

#1233. Powels Pool was a mill pond for a water mill and the current road runs over where the dam was. Maybe the mounds had something to do with a concrete exit chute to the tailrace which has been covered over. There should still be a stream leading away which would have been the tailrace to the...

    Where is This #201?

I know it's not Furnace lane but it does resemble it a bit...even the lamp post. There was a knee length boot fashion time for ladies, and they do look very nice. SW Brum....I have no chance.

#1228 I love dogs but with the number around, a 'stoop and scoop' routine is a must have and most dog owners adhere to this mandated requirement around here. It's not much to do. In large parks I think that less care is taken to follow this requirement especially so if the animal is running...

    Handsworth

I knew Handsworth in the mid 50s and right enough it was a fine place then but now the houses are 60 years older, which probably makes most of them twice as old now. Age deteriorates houses anywhere. Especially so if a maintenance regimen is not maintained. Little window light in those old row...

    Bennetts Hill, Waterloo Street

I think the post office was in the two story building on the left. The lower right hand window under the lamp giving access for stamps and posting I suppose. I think that the small building was a coach house for the hosteller perhaps. Directly behind the painter of the picture would be the...

They Were Caught In Our Old Street Pics...

We used to 'bags' cars...and remember the plate numbers so no one else could 'bags' it. Funny, I can even remember one of the numbers now. Of course you need to have a 'bags' witness as proof of 'bags ownership'. 'Bags trades' were made....the first form of Bitcoin....er...Bagscoin. Now you make...

What year might this be ?

Nah, all can sit. The entrance doors were all down the side so seating would be 5 abreast at least, no centre isle. So counting 2 passengers in line with the driver...about 27 seats maybe.

What year might this be ?

Yeah, I would say 20s also. A young Norah Batty in front and her would be boy friend standing up behind in the ratting cap. Loved the Summer Wine.

They Were Caught In Our Old Street Pics...

The girders were the end of New Street Station's roof. Age about 1910+ maybe but not sure. Even way back then the infrastructure seemed a bit worn and decrepit. It seems difficult to find any photo's that depict newness of those 'back then' surroundings. Probably cameras were not a universal...

Delicia Cinema (now part of the EBRI at Aston University).

I knew about the Delicia of course and seem to have read here that it was a TV studio at one time but, did not know that the frontage had been retained next to the pub. A piece of inspiration by someone. Gosta Green by Lister Street...the portal to a lot of industry at one time. Good post.

    City Centre Photographs

The immediate bus on the left is a motor vehicle whereas the one ahead of it appears to have cart wheels and be horse drawn. Both bus bodies seem to be near identical though. Perhaps the old bodies were adapted to motorised underpinnings. A transitional period.

    Saltley Gas Works about 1950

Anyone who rode the 'inner circle 8' a few times would recognise this photo and artistic rendition. It would have been taken from the bridge over the railway...you go carefully around that corner ahead and come to the fork that is the junction of Nechells Place and Cato Street with the Albion (I...

The railings around the church yard are still in place so pre war perhaps and the Blue Coat school seems to be in a state of demolition...no roof and windows missing.

#1037 car looks very much like a mid 30s Standard Nine.
