    Birchfield Road Perry Barr

I really don't know I'm afraid, although I would have travelled past on the bus into Town, I lived towards the Great Barr side of Perry Barr, I can't remember what that end looked like now. Maybe someone else on the Forum can help?

    Birchfield Road Perry Barr

Number 142 looks as if it was towards the Newtown/Lozells end of Birchfield Road. There are no houses on that side of the road now for some distance, it's mainly green space. At a guess I would say it was around where Wilson Road meets Birchfield Road?

    Birchfield Road Perry Barr

Ah yes, very familiar with that view! My Junior School in the background on the left and the shop where my mother worked before she married, Mrs Wilks haberdashery, next to Dodds. I went in there with her many times when I was small. I wonder who the car belonged to?!

    Bull Ring 1930s - 1950s

I remember Pimms Pets in the old Bull Ring Market Hall, my mother used to love going to have a look there, I think she bought one of the tortoises we had from them. I can't remember exactly what other sorts of animals they had.

Maple Hayes School and Research Centre Lichfield

Certainly back in the day I guess! I remember a few pupils at my Junior school having an extra reading lesson with a teacher, in the Staff room on Friday afternoons, one of them was in my class and he was very slow trying to read anything out loud. I've wondered in more recent times if they...

    Birmingham Street Name Origins

A few of the old names can be found in other places, off the top of my head, Mount Pleasant, the Shambles and Butts so I guess they referred to certain land features of the past?
