Though there is a death listed for a William Alfred Foster in 1910 of about the right age.

Yes, that should be Alfred William. Thanks.

Yes, for the most part. The spelling of Perca varies and I'd guess it was more likely to be Pechio to begin with, Elizabeth married a Luciano Pechio in 1895. There are 3 Pechio/Smith births registered including Alexandra (as Allesandra), In 1901 Elizabeth, Alexandra and Alfred are living with...

Got them in 1911 as well, they are listed in Warwick St, Deritend I think as Smith. Alexandra is again listed as Alexander & Alfred Henry as Alfred William. Elizabeth is listed as a widow and there is no sign William Alfred Foster.

Jane Varaca is Elizabeth's sister. Elizabeth, Alexandra and Albert are on the 1901 census as Perchia (Alexandra is listed as Alexander) with parents and sister in Bham. There mother was born is listed as USA, though in 1911 it's Newdoundland. Though I'd like to find them earlier to see if she...

No, she had Alfred Henry Foster before she married Frank Barker. Frank and Elizabeth are together at Ronald Road (the address listed with Alfred' death) in 1921 and 1939. And I've just noticed that Frank was a boarder of Charles and Clara Miles in 1911.

The mother of Alfred Henry, Rose (Rosina) and George was Elizabeth Fenton. She married Richard Foster in 1896 and on the 1901 census her mother, Eliza Fenton, is living with them. I can see that is another Alfred Henry Foster who died WWI but his mother married a Frank Barker in 1914. So she...

Why do you have an Elizabeth Barker as the mother of Alexandra Perca? Also the wife of Richard Foster and the mother of Alfred Henry appears to have been an Elizabeth Fenton.

Not sure if it's the sunlight or the gardens but the first terrace photo looks quite a nice place whilst the other two much less so.

Well it definitely looks old and, to me at least, quite a haunting picture.

Most likely candidate is the daughter of Clara's brother Edward. She was born in 1895. And she appears to have married a Thomas F Garrett in 1917.

Sorry for being a bit of a doubting Thomas but a pre 1879 photo of the wife of a bricklayer?

Anything is possible. She could be a relative of another Italian family and came with them to Bham or one that was already here and came to join them. We just don't know but we now know that she had been in Bham before she married. Interestingly George Miles' grandfather was a bricklayer.

George's grandmother, Lydia Lewis (nee Russell) died in 1879.

Still can't see any other record (census or birth) for her. Or any other Perca. Maybe she was born in Italy (or wherever), family came to Bham between censuses, went back and then she returned???

? Didn't think you were completely certain where she or her parents were from.

Obviously can't be certain but the witness Lydia Lewis was possibly George's cousin, the daughter of his mother's brother.

Sadly I can't see anything for John (I assume Giovanni) Perca. It may be that the records just aren't online yet but it could also be that Perca has been anglicised or just not recorded correctly.
