Moving to the Mill proper and now very run down - trees growing out of it and much of the roof missing . seen back in the 1989 when it was still held together, we can see the former delivery tower one column of windows from the left which would have been enclosed and held pulley or lift to move...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

The last picture is rather random but is a group of lads on the corner of Arthur Place with one looking through the gap in the fence on the corner of the two roads. One of those times and locations that would mean something to someone. Summer, long shorts and off out exploring - different times !!

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

I have a couple of pictures off the end of Roll 7 , not buildings but may be of interests or actually be someone or somewhere that people know. First is a Scout, with an old uniform, hat, cord, neckerchief and long shorts and socks. Seems very proud of his uniform and looks very smart

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

This large stone building is the Granville in Granville Street, from the carving at the top of the building it was made in 1923 for M & B , curved topped windows downstairs , square topped upstairs and a carved roof surround. Figures look a little ghostly - added later?

Next we have a view of a corner pub , this been the Duke of Cambridge in Great King Street, I am not sure of a year but I like the white brick walls, the chimney stacks and the lamp on the corner and the street names on the walls. Moving down the right hand side is a large bay window and we can...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

Moving on we now have the " new " Star Inn, much changed from the past I am afraid , the only real link is the curved frontage and roof line . A much simplified layout from previous and the windows have all been made the same size. Dark wood entrances no more etched windows and only a small bit...

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

Next we have the Old Star Public House in Gooch Street, unusual curved frontage and the various levels of the roofs. I like the ornate swags under the roof line, the various window sizes over the building and the ornate etched windows on the ground floor.

Next in the old and new series we have the Peacock Inn on the corner of Darwin Street and Dymoke Street, love the advert on the first and second floors and the way the bay windows have been styled. I like the size of the bracket for the lamp too.

Following on in the old and new theme - this one is slightly different - in the previous photo on the left hand side there is a distinctive house and moving right in the background a clock tower - we have the now cleared site with the same house in the background and the tower still there. I...

As we are on a run of old and new - so here is the "new " site of The Greet pub on the Warwick Road, I have no date for the photo, but the picture looks to have been taken close to the opening - very much in the M & B style - mock stately home - brickwork, stone window frames gables and a...
