It gives a new prospective on the catacombs, I always thought of them as crescent shaped, but the model shows its an asymmetrical horseshoe. You can see on the...

    Perry Common Erdington

Looking down the road towards the Golden Cross there were two mains installed. On the right it was a water main that crossed the stream to the waterworks on the right hand side. The left side did eventually have a gas main installed that also cross the stream.

    Well in my garden

Working in the construction industry around Birmingham I came across quite a few of these old wells during the course of my work. One or two were already partly filled and were showing due to compaction and settlement. A couple of others were still open, quite deep and with water at the bottom...

    Birmingham fatal drownings 20th Century

The joys of historical research. These contradictions when, if you set aside the past as written as historical fact and desire to build just a body of knowledge will allow you to leverage the advantages to create a rich and meaningful analysis of past events. You will then soon see how history...

    Tontine system in Birmingham

There are still several public houses and hotels along the River Severn called Tontine. I know of the one in Stourport on Severn, Ironbridge and there is another one in Gloucestershire but cannot remember the name. As stated, they wee a way of investing capital as long as you don’t die too soon.
