I think there would be too many headwinds; cost, environmental studies let alone emotions.

    Italians in Birmingham

    An acute observation!

Without knowing all of the details, I’m sure the environmental impact study would take year and lots of £££££, let alone the cost to implement. I’m being facetious but you should not be driving if you are going to ignore hazards!

Still a lot of character there!

    Italians in Birmingham

I didn’t realize the state of Italy at that time until looking something up on another matter. At the end of the Second World War (and beyond) the government was not well respected including the fact that the countries boundaries were being changed! Interesting subject…

We built a house in Beaufort SC right on the water, very glamorous but scary when there were storms which there are many. We sold it to settle in TN, with really good health care and a low tax state. Our electricity is 90% hydro and distributed by a cooperative. The real estate market in the...

Maybe that’s what the media says…Ask the folks in Florida, North & South Carolina in the spring. The snow birds come in droves. BTW it’s great the economy!

A lot of Canadians winter in Florida and other mostly coastal southern states, they are called “Snow Birds” just to confirm your family history :).

I definitely would, given the quality of life and opportunities I have been given. I love England & Birmingham but when I was last there on business, 2005/6 was not impressed compared to Germany for example. We have a lot going on here, including bad press but as a mentor of mine would say: “the...

I think you could be right Janice, I had to use PayPal because I am in the US. Transferring directly from a card should also work.

I thought the same when I was there. All of those little fiefdoms, might have ok back in the day, just think about all of those committees and the costs therein! Sorry!

That is the best way to do it. We have a joint account with our own cards tied to the account (didn’t plan it that way) but it works!

Very nice story from an eight year old perspective, I had a similar experience when I was 11 when my sister brought home her American boy friend, not as detailed or as poignant of course but non the less impactful to an 11 year old! Your closing comment is absolutely on point!

Thank you Mike, that insight much appreciated! I find that we can learn so much from the origin of words. At least from my perspective…

Saw used the word “leats” which I have no familiarity with. I did Google for clarification. Learned something today! Do you have any idea where the term came from. It is according to Google mostly used in Wales and the Southern part of England. Sounds like a great session!
