It's a mystery really, the image on the right showing the 's' is from just before demolition, the image on the left is an earlier one with the windows still intact.

Well it was certainly well established on the 1881 census but can't find any reference to it on the 1871 census.

Could be Janice but if they've stitched it together they've used a very sophisticated system, the windows above and below appear to be fine.

I was checking around Waterworks Street and was unable to find a reference to the tower block there, the sign seemed to say Mormanel Tower, looking at a later date highlighted the 's' in Normansell. It's fascinating that only the lettering was distorted, the rest of the image appeared correct.

I think this aerial view from 1952 shows Aston Hall Road School, please correct me if I am wrong.

This is an aerial view, I have marked what I think is #50, if somebody has a 1950s map showing house numbers they will be able to confirm this.

I found this reference but which High Street it refers to is not known.
