    Phillips Olwyn Mary

Interestingly on the 1945 ER her husband still appears to be listed at 75 Clydesdale Road but I'm not sure if she is (from search results only). Also her death is reg. in Hertfordshire whilst his is reg. in Flintshire.

    Phillips Olwyn Mary

The Olwen in the above census married in Pembroke in 1950. In 1939 she is still with her family in Smethwick, so not particularly local.

    Phillips Olwyn Mary

I don't think the Olwen M H Phillips who married in 1939 is not the same as the one on Lyn's census post. Her birth was reg. in Barnet 1912. She and Trefor are listed at 75 Clydesdale Road Quinton in 1939.

    Paradise Development 2022

The 360 degree views have been updated and as well as seeing the latest progress on 3 Chamberlain Square there are some good close up views of the Town Hall and the City Centre. https://www.paradisebirmingham.co.uk/more-about-paradise/progress/

    New Thomas Street

No problem. Below is a larger section, though both roads end at the point they meet, The map is quite a small scale so I see no real problem that there are 30 front houses, probably a few more on the west than the east. Also this map is from 1839, so there may have been some changes.

    Zipfell Martin

One of those lovely little family tree coincidences, Jane's (double) cousin Catherine Ann Yates also married a man named William Lane. Totally unrelated as far as I can see.

And looking at Leonard Road and Carlyle Road where your relatives were living in the later half of the century, they weren't part of the inner city slums.

It's usually just guess work when trying to decide why an ancestor moved to different city/country. For most I suspect it would have been for better opportunity/work. Birmingham was a growing city with opportunities for both skilled and unskilled workers. I suspect this would be the reason in...

'Billy Richards' Death - Snow Hill Tunnel - 1939?

A dangerous occupation. My great grandad's brother was killed in a shunting accident in 1883.

'Billy Richards' Death - Snow Hill Tunnel - 1939?

There is no death registered for a William or Billy Richards in Bham 1939. I can see reports of an accident involving a William Richards of 1 Highmere Road, Snow Hill, Bath - a car and a lorry - in Bath. There were fatalities but William was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Thomas was their youngest son, Arthur James Draper was a son in law. In 1891 Richard & Agatha were also living at 14 Leonard Road, with one daughter (Eliza) at no. 16 and another (Ann) at no. 8.

You may already no this but... Richard Thomas Yates (Agatha's husband) was listed as a machinist in 1881 & a mechanic in 1891. The latter may be transcription error as he was again listed as a machinist on his probate. William Lane (Jane's husband) was listed as a carpenter on the 1881, 1891 &...

    Guininess Book of Records (Sports)??

Would think it would be someone fairly recent. Martin Johnson was only 38 when he became coach of England and was born in Shirley.

    william john dawson 1878 cannock

I think there are at least 4 likely possibilities. He died (as a civilian) before Jane's second marriage. He died in WWI. He abandoned Jane. They divorced. Can't see a likely death listed for a John or William Dawson in England or Wales. There are many John, William, J and W Dawsons listed on...

Adoption record, Arthur Cratchley, Joyce Gardner 1920

The probate records just state who it was granted to, this is not the person who inherits though it could be. If there was no Will then she would have died intestate, in which case there may be a number of people who could inherit. As it looks like that Joyce wasn't officially adopted by Eliza...

Adoption record, Arthur Cratchley, Joyce Gardner 1920

Probate is not the same as a Will. Probate is usually granted to an executor, who carries out the instructions of the deceased. So the 3 girls may have been beneficiaries. I think you can purchase a copy of a Will (if there is one).
