Gun Barrel Proof House Banbury Street

Wow, that's interesting, I haven't watched all of it as it's a bit too technical for me! What's surprised me is that they still do all that testing in there, I've passed by the building but somehow assumed it was a relic of the past.

    Bagman, Bag Man, Packman

According to my Mom, I used to love Andy Pandy so much that I would cry when it ended so she had to be ready to distract me with something

Telephone history: Telephone Service in Birmingham

Yes, I can imagine! Still some around in London, mainly central so the tourists can take photos next to them. I've seen a couple of them turned into little coffee kiosks here too.

    Boundaries

Are there any old boundary markers that exist in Birmingham, I can't remember noticing one? I had a quick look on the internet but can't see anything particular. There are a number of stone and metal ones in London, old boroughs and county markers - interesting that they have survived.

    Oldest Post Box in Birmingham?

We have two of the VR hexagonal post boxes in the area of London I live in... Stoke Newington is home to two rare hexagonal “Penfold” pillar boxes, which are Grade II listed. They are named after its designer John Wornham Penfold, and installed between 1866 and 1878.

    Trying to identify a lido!

Interesting link, I wasn't familiar with some of those places although I know some of the 'ponds' but that's not quite the same thing is it. We lived in Perry Barr so not too far from you - I can't think of anywhere else it could have been unless....was there one in Smethwick or West Bromwich?

    Trying to identify a lido!

They had an outdoor pool in Stetchford, my friend and I used to get the outer circle 11 bus which, living in north Brum, took us a while to get there! Could that be the place - can't quite remember what it looked like now?

Ah yes, I can see where the Wincaster name comes from now.... Founded by Harry Mosedale & Ken Everett, Sertec Birmingham Ltd was a tool and jig making business for the white goods industry. Their first home was Unit 8 Wincaster Factory Estate on Aston Brook Street.
