O'Connor Family c1900 to 1945. Barton Street 1939, Lower Tower Street (Duddeston) 1945

A few interesting things to see (if the OP returns) going further back if I have the right people. Gertrude's parents appear to have been cousins, so a little bit of pedigree collapse and there seems to be quite a bit more a few generations earlier in Gertrude's maternal grandfather's line, 3 of...

    Does nobody die anymore?

I don't understand what the problem is with describing a dog as a mongrel. If you are using it to insult someone that's different.

    Matilda Mayes

You never stop hoping that some new record or information will appear that will help your solve your ancestry mysteries, even if it's years later. Every ancestry line ends with a dead end, you just hope it's a good few generations in the past.

    Six Ways Aston

She dies later in 1911 and Walter re-marries in 1914 and in 1921 they are living at 203 Heathfield Road with their 2 young children.

    Six Ways Aston

There's a Walter Matthews listed as Grocer and Provision Merchant in 1911 at 2 Lozells Road I think. His wife was much older and one of her sons (from a previous marriage) is with them listed as Grocers Assistant.

    Vincent Kerr

The birth reg. for Vincent has mother's name as Faulkner. And there is a Mary Falkner born and baptised in Willenhall (her listed birthplace in 1881) of the right age. Interestingly her father was a locksmith. She appears to be missing off the 1861 census, so is she with Vincent in some foreign...

    Vincent Kerr

Just assume it means he was a soldier when he died or the last they heard of him.

    Vincent Kerr

The Belfast baptism could be him but no way to know for certain. Getting either certificate for Harriet seems a bit of a waste of money to me. I can't imagine what other info on them there would be that would help.

    Vincent Kerr

Looks like she married a Charles Littley. Found a baptism for a Vincent Kerr in Belfast 11 Aug 1830, son of a Patrick and Eliza. Without a marriage to Mary (Faulkner) impossible to prove if relevant.

    Vincent Kerr

You may have already looked at these but this is all I could find... There's a Vincent Kerr listed on the 1861 British Army Worldwide Index (findmypast) though I don't think there's anymore info from that. There's a Vincent Kerr on the 1858 Military Court Martial Registers (fold3). And...

Does Vincent's sister list similar info about her father when she marries?

    OLD AND NEW PHOTOGRAPHS

From Lawley Middleway (Ashted Row long gone) and not really looking towards town, that would be more to the left. Nice and shiny, centre right, is Aston Science park which I always thought looked so modern when I used to go past it on the bus but I think some if not all of it has gone as well.

    Aston Church Road.

You were right, had a letter from the contractors, Aston Church Road is going to be closed for more than a year, starting from October. There is a diversion along already busy roads with probably little more thought gone into it than where to put the signs. I don't go that way often but it will...

    anyone into this?

Further to the above, checking other people's information relates to all genealogy sites. Whilst getting a little carried away with someone else's tree (from a recent member's query) had a bit of difficulty with one person which I eventually sorted (I think). She appears on 7 trees on Ancestry...

    Critchlow and Cole of Handsworth

Is that chap at the back exceptionally tall or just standing on something? William only had a sister. Gladys had 3 sisters and 2 brothers. All survived the war.

    66 Leopold Street, Birmingham

It's the same in 1911 and the same boarder is still there. She appears to have been married before George and (as can been seen) the 2 children are previous husbands. She appears to die in 1922, listed as Jenkins.

    66 Leopold Street, Birmingham

I can't see him in 1901 or 1911. I can see a George of a similar age with wife Sarah but he's a different person.

    66 Leopold Street, Birmingham

As the father of the George Fowler of Leopold St was a Beer Retailer doesn't it seem plausible that his son would invent a device for barrels?
  19. MWS

    66 Leopold Street, Birmingham

Am I missing something? The George Fowler who lived at 66 Leopold St is not the same as the one born in Oadby (as can be seen from the 1881 census scan). There doesn't appear to be any obvious connection between the 2 families.

Henry Gould and the Pond family

You can only hope that one of the children turn up on a census with Henry's relatives.
