    St Clements Road Nechells

Thank you Mikejee for sharing this map. My Grandparents always told me their address was 12/43, when in fact it was 12/45.It has been such a long time since I was down that way, (1969), & memories can get a little jumbled over time.

Thank you for sharing this lovely phot Harveypcm, & welcome to this wonderful forum. If my memory serves me well, I think the gap between the houses showing on the right, led up to my grandparents house.

I have just checked a map of the area. I think your door number was 67. Susan Blakemore sounds familiar. I know the feeling when it comes to photographs. Thankfully, my mum lept a few, but were lost when she past away. Here is a couple from the street for you. The shop on the corner of union...

Awww. Such a sad face Bob. Though I know the feeling, as did one of my brothers too. Hello Bob. I remember the shop. Yes, it was called reenies. I remember going in there every morning with my mum on my way to school, then again on the way home. This has certainly jogged my memory of happy times.

    Bracebridge Street

Would love to see the photo Bob. You are 2 years younger than me. I can only remember 2 people by name from Elkington Street school. One was a girl in my class, who I got on really well with. Her name was anne bird, & one of the teachers, who I did not like. Her name was Miss Barlow. She hit me...

    Bracebridge Street

Hello RRJ. Welcome to this wonderful forum. I used to live in Bracebridge Street around this time. My family lived at number 20. Unfortunately, I was too young to get to know many people, & did not get the chance to mix with many of the children in the area either. Went to Elkington Street...

Birmingham Open Air Schools - Cropwood, Hunter's Hill, Marsh Hill and Skilts (excl. Haseley Hall and Uffculme)

Mr Brownsword was a brilliant gym teacher. He helped me complete my Duke of Edinboroughs award, even though I was scared in case I failed. Did not like mr tebbit. He always picked on me, but then turned decent as he had me working up on the allotment by the block. Taught me about bee keeping. I...

Birmingham Open Air Schools - Cropwood, Hunter's Hill, Marsh Hill and Skilts (excl. Haseley Hall and Uffculme)

For what I remember, there were both number buses that took us to school, though one took slightly longer to get there due to the route.
