    computer help

I admire your ability to master the technology, I am also a little bit of a technology guru. However I realised some time ago that digital images are fine nowadays but what will we be leaving for our grandchildren and great grand children. It’s far better to leave them with a box of pictures...

    computer help

For years I have only ever used Hewlet Packard printers, the last one cost £300 and over its life I had spent over £2000 on ink. (Work related use as well as private use.) almost three years ago I bought an Epson ecotank printer, it was supplied with two sets of ink. I have only recently started...

Mum & Dad somewhere in Aston

My guess is that it is outside the lych gate of Aston Parish church, the bend sign would fit in with the “S” bend outside the Aston Tavern. Just a thought. The road is Aston Hall Road. Alf.

    Aston Tavern, Aston Hall Road

Aston Tavern We held our wedding reception here in 1966, although it was only a short walk from the church our driver insisted we went by car. He took us to Aston Cross and back to allow our guests to walk the short distance to the Tavern. Happy memories. We will pop in on our next visit to...

    Worst car of the 1960's

The worst car I ever had to drive was the Lancia Gamma, an expensive company vehicle that looked good but just was not worth the money very badly finished (frayed seat material) poor fitted carpets. A devil to start especially in the damp. It had a 4 cylinder horizontally opposed engine that was...

    Hybrid & electric cars

We as children also ingested lead in the water we drank, absorbed from the lead pipes that were not phased out until the 1960’s 1970’s, They were also exposed to the lead in paint on their toys, on furniture, and on pencils, etc. Far more dangerous was the asbestos dust from brake shoes. This...

    Hybrid & electric cars

I had a very early Citroen BX, finished up having three in total, very comfortable ride with the hydro suspension, all three I had for three years or more and all did more than 130K miles in each of them. Never had a problem with any of them. So reliable despite their reputation.

    Hybrid & electric cars

Hello Vic, Driving in electric mode or in petrol mode is not an option as I see it. The electric power is there as a boost to assist the petrol engine. It is possible to be driving on flat roads where the petrol engine is not used with all of the power coming from electric motor. But start to...

    Hybrid & electric cars

We have our second KIA Niro, 4. It’s a joy to drive without the anxiety of an all electric, just this weekend achieved over 60mpg, with the air con on, and the lights. No worries if we have enough power to complete the journey. Or if the charging points will work when up you get there. Hybrid is...

    Science Museum Newhall Street

I loved the Science Museum, especially going on my own, with no one trying to hurry me along. I could stand looking at the cut away Merlin Engine for ages. Or the working steam beam engines. Visiting this museum gave me a love of anything mechanical. AC.

    Problem with Amazon

Re, HP printers. I have had HP Printers for more than 20 years, I found that any faults will occur in the first few months, whilst under guarantee, I recently bought an A3 Epson printer, the only comment I can make is WOW! Stunning colours, phenomenal definition and UNBELIEVABLY VERY economical...

    Restaurants In Birmingham 1960s

How about the “Slow Boat,” Chinese restaurant in the Bull Ring, very elegant and the food was excellent. Had my first and last Chinese tea there, it was like boiled eu de cologne. Time scale mid 1960’s.
