    computer help

I have been using “DuckDuckGo,” as my default on Firefox for many months now with no issues. Great combination with zero trackers. I have moved away from Google. Only use it occasionally for Google Earth. Alf.C.

    Windows 10

I agree Mac computers are expensiv, BUT well worth the expense. I have 10 year old MacBook Pro, cost £1200, 10 years ago. Running OS which is regularly updated overnight occasionally free of charge, virtually virus free. Love it. Still have a windows tower computer still running Windows 7. Old...

    In the garden 2022

Hi Viv, we appear to have opened a can of worms with the suggestion of using Washing up liquid. As an alternative to washing up liquid we could use green soft soap. Not sure where it would be purchased from now, it was always available from good chemists. For that last few weeks I have been...

Same here, The telephone exchange and the Fox and goose game. I also loved the cut away Merlin Engine, i used to stand and wonder how it was designed and made. British Home Stores BHS

Whilst working, and being on the road visiting many towns, BHS, was a beacon for me. I could always bank on a decent cup of tea, and the toasted tea cakes were just delicious. Just as important their toilets were always clean. Her indoors, she that has to be obeyed! liked BHS, and always bought...

    What was the best Generation

True, but when I was young I did not appreciate the pleasure of listening to classical music. I think it’s something that develops with age.

    What was the best Generation

I am 77, born in the last days of WW2. I look back on my life with gratitude. I have always considered we lived through the best years. The best music, the most beautiful girls, ( I still live with one, having been married 56 years, this coming Saturday.) We did not earn a lot, but managed to...

    The English Language.

Great programs, we just love them. Puts Vera, Midsummer Murders, and the like to shame. Plus the added advantage according to my wife, reading the subtitles keeps me awake!!! Alf

    The English Language.

One thing that I find offensive to the English language. Is the continual reference to “cool.” If it is cold, it can be said to be ” cool” if it’s ”Nice, or pleasant, say so! Rather than saying it’s “cool,” I am continually correcting my teenage grand children. AC.

    Computer Security.

I have been using Firefox for ages, and earlier this year switched to DuckDuckG, I cannot say I’ve had ANY speed concerns. It runs fine no pauses, just gets on with what I’ve asked of it. For my e-mails I have been using Thunderbird also for years regular updates. Cannot understand why everyone...

    Toy/Model Shops City Centre

A.B.Fletchers, we’re best when before the current store, it was housed in leaking corrugated sheds. I could spend hours there rummaging through boxes of car bits that I did not need. I recall one enormous pallet box full of wiring looms that were totally tangled up. There was no chance of...
