    Whalton or Wall

Thanks Janice After thought, the attached shows an address for a Mr Hall. When William enlisted in the Militia he was working as a groom at a farm in Martley. Not clear the name of farm though. Peter

    Whalton or Wall

I did look at the 2 1913 Wolverhampton marriage records but ruled them out. I also looked through all the family names at the Bakery Buildings address and one possible a Mabel Bartlett but again a blank. I think I will call a day on William Wall (Whalton) for now and maybe return to him at a...

    Whalton or Wall

Janice Yes on service papers it does give that info however it was on his pension record stating he was married and he was discharged 3.5.1915 so recording he was married at that time. At the time his father (also named William) was living at Pipers Row was when William enlisted in Militia...

    Whalton or Wall

Yes Norton Barracks was the Regimental home for the Worcestershire Regiment and the reservists when recalled on the outbreak of war would have arrived at Norton before joining their various Battalions. At this time 2nd Battalion were at Aldershot. It could be William met his future wife in the...

    Whalton or Wall

Have checked 1911 and 1921 census for him at Bakery Buildings but no William Wall (Whalton). Many of the names on 1911 still living at the address in 1921.

Janice that looks right Bakery Buildings. It was May 1915 when William was discharged (wounds) so that was most likely his address at that time, and he is a married man now (single 1911 census). Peter

Just checked service details again and both brothers and sister are older, had not noticed the letter O (in red) to the left of names. See attached. Also address (Kempsey) from pension info if any one can make it out. Peter

    Whalton or Wall

I had tried Walton but nothing. Don't know brothers DoB's but think they are older being that they were both serving when William enlisted (13.2.1906) also sister being married most likely older. Not being able to find any of them on the census (1891, 1901, 1911) with the exception of William...

    Ratchford, Harry

Thank you all for your feedback on Harry. I was thinking that Harry could be illegitimate with the dates not adding up , so the Henry Daley birth could well be Harry. He was KiA 25 July 1915 whilst serving with 2nd Bn. Worcestershire Regiment, buried Woburn Abbey Cemetery, Cuinchy. His pension...

    Ratchford, Harry

Harry Ratchford born 1891 abt. Birmingham son of James and Emily Ratchford. Having problem finding birth record for Harry and also 1901 census with Harry on. Have 1911 census and his age shown as 20 (serving 2nd Bn. Worcesters in India). Service papers (Militia) give his age as 17 years 4 months...
